The focus of this workshop is on the role of the supervisor in devising strategies to help students deal with the social, intellectual and creative challenges related to writing a thesis.  Before the workshop, participants will be provided with a copy of the students’ Demystify Your Thesis workbook, which will be the point of reference for the following topics covered during the workshop:

·         What students expect from their supervisor

·         Being an independent researcher is more than completing a thesis

·         Understanding what a thesis is

·         Helping students develop a research question

·         Helping students navigate the literature review

·         The architecture of a thesis

·         Working with students to brainstorm and plan chapters

·         What examiners look for

The workshop will be facilitated by Ron Adams, Professorial Research Fellow in the Centre for Graduate Research.
