Statistics Workshop: Organising, describing, and graphing data using SPSS

This workshop will provide an introduction on how to use IBM SPSS for windows version 24. No prior knowledge of SPSS is assumed. By the end of the workshop students will be able to:
- Create a new data file and enter data using SPSS
- Navigate the SPSS data editor, syntax editor, chart editor, variable viewer, and output windows
- Create and define variables using SPSS
- Modify the data file by deleting, inserting, or moving cases
- Sort and split data files
- Check the distribution of variables
- Inspect the data file by identifying missing data and checking for outliers (e.g. boxplot)
- Request a histogram and scatterplot of the data
- Compute descriptive statistics (e.g. mean, median, mode, range, percentile)
