In this session we will discuss researcher responsibilities in relation to authorship and strategies to ensure there is a positive culture around authorship and publication. The session is relevant for both new and experienced researchers and draws on the Principles of the Code for the Responsible Conduct of Research (2018). We will discuss the requirements for academic authorship including the essential criteria for being considered an author. Many resources exist to help authors with preparing their papers, and there are some pitfalls to be avoided.

Researchers have a responsibility to disseminate their research appropriately. The account should include relevant negative results as well as findings that may be contrary to any stated hypothesis.
