This workshop focuses on Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) using Smart-PLS 4.0 and requires prior attendance at the Phase-I and Phase-II workshops that ran AMOS-SEM. SmartPLS is a different SEM software which is very popular among researchers dealing with small sample size used for theory testing. Participants will be introduced to the software, prepare the survey data and perform the analysis similar to AMOS-SEM path analysis. But the outputs are available straightaway from the analysis. Participants can download and install the trial version in their laptop for this workshop.

After going through this workshop, you will learn to:

  • Familiarise with SmartPLS 4.0
  • Draw the conceptual diagram using the drawing tools
  • Prepare the original survey data (SPSS file) to .txt file for use
  • Execute ethe model and analyse the outputs
  • Test for mediation analysis
  • Test for moderation analysis

This course will benefit researchers/HDR students from any field of research and those who want to learn how to run a path model using SmartPLS 40. This will offer an evidence of analysis rigor with a multivariate technique applied to a complex path model having a simultaneous effect of antecedent (exogenous) variables on outcome (endogenous) variables. Research that uses SEM has a higher chance of getting published in higher ranking journals.

You are advised to bring your own laptop with SmartPLS 4.0 trial version installed. You may bring your data set and/or research problem with you to work simultaneously. Some example data will be provided for demonstration anyway.

Associate Professor Himanshu Shee's HDR supervision focuses on equipping scholars with advanced skills in methodologies like Structural Equation Modeling (SEM), using tools such as AMOS-SEM and PLS-SEM. Under his mentorship, students not only undertake rigorous empirical and theoretical research but also achieve significant academic outputs, with publications in leading Q1 and Q2 journals. He is an experienced HDR supervisor and thesis examiner, contributing to the broader academic community through his expertise in SEM techniques. This wealth of experience makes him a sought-after mentor and examiner in his field.
